Overview
Microarray sample tracking is necessary in microarray printing
inorder to (1) identify ESTs in the plates to be spotted, (2) keeping
track of events along the way (PCR product manufacture, crosslinking,
blocking, hybridization, and scanning of slides), and (3) most importantly
to provide a map of EST identification from the spotting plate to
the array spot location, so that the spot quantitation process can
assign this identifier to the quantitated spot. It is generally
implemented in a series of spreadsheets or by a LIMS (Laboratory
Information Management System).
